65 Tourists from Arambagh Stranded in Nepal Due to Flash Floods, Families in Deep Concern

Several tourists from West Bengal have been stranded in Nepal following devastating flash floods and a natural disaster in the country. Among them, a tourist bus carrying 65 people from Arambagh has become a major cause of concern for their families back home. The families have urged authorities to take immediate steps to bring them back safely.

According to reports, the tourist bus bearing registration number WB 37C 9999 is carrying 65 tourists from Arambagh. The bus is currently stranded in the Chetan Park area of Nepal. As the location is around 120 kilometres away from the disaster-hit zone, the bus was not directly affected by the flash flood. However, communication networks and transport services across Nepal have been severely disrupted, making regular contact with the tourists difficult.

The group of 65 tourists left Arambagh for Nepal on August 24. They had planned to visit several tourist destinations across the country. However, the sudden flash floods and the resulting crisis on Wednesday disrupted their travel plans. As news of the disaster spread, panic gripped their families in Arambagh.

Family members said that many of them were unable to contact their relatives since Wednesday morning. Some had last spoken to their loved ones around 8 to 8:30 am, after which phone communication was lost. Due to network issues, families remained anxious for hours without any updates. Later in the evening, some tourists could be contacted, but concerns still remain.

A tourist’s son, Saubhagya Dutta, said that his mother, maternal uncle-in-law, and several others from their neighbourhood had travelled to Nepal on August 24. After hearing about the flash floods, he repeatedly tried to contact his mother. Unable to reach her for a long time, he became extremely worried. Later, he collected the bus conductor’s number and managed to speak with his mother through him. He confirmed that she was safe.

Saubhagya said his biggest concern was his mother’s safety. He appealed for all the tourists to be brought back to their families as soon as possible. According to him, every tourist is extremely precious to their loved ones, and no risk should be taken in ensuring their safe return.

Meanwhile, bus owner Arup Guha is also worried about the situation. He said the bus is currently stuck at Chetan Park. He has contacted the bus staff and instructed them to make arrangements to return to India as soon as possible. However, uncertainty over local conditions and road situations in Nepal is creating difficulties in making a final decision.
